The One Piece world has seen mysterious powers and abilities from some of our favorite characters. While some gain amazing power from devil fruits, others have learned to harness their own spiritual energy and use Haki in this anime. Every living being in One Piece has Haki, however, only a select few like Roger, Shanks, Garp, and others have managed to master this power. Haki, for those unaware, provides the user with different abilities, including future sight, armor-like protection, and even the ability to overpower others’ will. Based on this, we have curated a list of the strongest haki users in the One Piece anime. Read on to discover each character’s powerful haki and where your favorite character ranks in the list.

1. Gol D. Roger

As One Piece fans might have already guessed, the top position belongs to none other than Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King himself. There is a reason why he became the Pirate King and discovered the legendary “One Piece” treasure without devil fruit powers. He did the impossible and rose up to the top while conquering the seas with his supreme Haki powers.

Roger was the epitome of the greatest Haki user as he possessed all three major Hakis known in the world of One Piece. He was the captain of the famous Roger pirates, which consisted of powerful people like Rayleigh, Shanks, Buggy, and many others.

Monkey D. Garp was regarded as the “Hero of the Marines” after the God Valley incident. He is the Monkey D. Dragon’s father and our beloved protagonist Monkey D. Luffy’s grandfather. Garp doesn’t possess any weapon or devil fruit power, but he beat everyone in his way with his “bare fists”. Garp mastered armament haki to such an extent that he earned the title of ‘Garp the Fist.’ He teamed up with Roger and put an end to the formidable Rocks pirate crew, consisting of Rocks D. Xebec, Whitebeard, Big mom, and more, during the God valley incident.

3. Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)

Edward Newgate, aka Whitebeard, was initially a member of the Rocks pirates but started his own crew later on and became the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates. He was introduced and widely known as the “Strongest Man in the World” in One Piece. Further, Whitebeard ate the Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit), one of the most powerful paramecia-type devil fruits. Before his death, Newgate was one of the four emperors of the sea.

Akagami Shanks is the captain of the Red Hair pirates and is one of the four emperors of the sea right now. He used to be a member of the legendary Roger pirates before they parted ways. Shanks is recognized as the master of conqueror’s haki and the killer of observation haki too. He is also one of the few pirates who can use all three types of haki. Shanks has mastered conqueror’s haki and made several members of the Whitebeard pirate crew faint during his visit. Such great use of haki was even lauded by Whitebeard.

All the incidents above prove why Shanks is the master of conqueror’s haki. As seen in his battle with Sakazuki, Shanks can use armament haki to imbue his sword with this power. Shanks can proficiently use observation haki as well, thus, making him one of the strongest haki users in the One Piece anime series.

Monkey D. Luffy, the main protagonist of the One Piece anime, is the captain of the Straw Hat pirates and is also one of the four emperors of the sea. Luffy is also one of the very few users who has mastered all three types of haki. He first learned about haki from Silvers Rayleigh after the Marineford war and quickly mastered the basics.

Kozuki Oden was the daimyo of Kuri in Wano country and the leader of the strongest samurais known as the Nine Red Scabbards. Oden is the only person who served as a member of both the legendary Whitebeard pirates and Roger pirates (see One Piece Jolly Roger for popular pirates here). His immense strength was greatly recognized by both Whitebeard and Roger. He lived his life as a great samurai and became a legendary pirate.

Similar to other strong characters, Oden possessed all three types of haki. Oden is a powerful user of armament haki, where he used Ryou combined with his swordsmanship skills. He also used the conqueror’s haki against Beast pirates and used the infusion technique against Kaido and Whitebeard. It is also mentioned that he could use observation haki with ease.

Similar to Whitebeard, Kaido was known as the “Strongest creature in the world” and was one of the former emperors of the sea. He led the infamous Beast pirates and was feared by many across the seas. He was also a member of the Rocks pirates along with Whitebeard and Big Mom. Kaido also possessed all three forms of haki and was an experienced haki user.

Charlotte Linlin, popularly known as Big Mom, was the captain of the Big Mom pirates. She was one of the former emperors and a former member of the Rocks pirates. She was the only female character to become an emperor until now. Big Mom could use all three types of haki, and she was also a highly-skilled haki user like Kaido.

We saw Big Mom use conqueror’s haki during Sanji’s wedding and later she also used the infusion technique when she clashed with Kaido in Onigashima, splitting the skies into two. Big Mom could also use armament haki flawlessly, even Luffy’s Kong gun did not work against her hardened body back then. It was also mentioned that she was an observation haki user. Her haki was mentioned as too strong by Law during their battle on the rooftops of Onigashima. Thus, she takes the 8th position in our list of strongest haki users.

Dracule Mihwak is widely known as the “Strongest Swordsman in the world” and that automatically cements his place among the strongest pirates in the world. He defeated all the enemies in his way and earned the title of the greatest swordsman, beating our beloved Zoro. He is also the main rival of the emperor Shanks, indicating the immense strength he possesses. Mihawk’s swordsmanship skills are said to be higher than that of Shanks, even though he can only use two haki types, which are observation and armament haki.

Popularly known as the “Dark King,” Silvers Rayleigh was the right-hand man of the pirate king Gol D. Roger. He served as the first mate in the legendary Roger pirates. Although Rayleigh has now retired, he is still one of the most important figures in the One Piece world. He also uses all three types of haki and taught the basics of Haki to Luffy, helping him grow into one of the strongest pirates like himself.

Finally, Rayleigh showed his observation skills numerous times as he explained it to Luffy by fighting an elephant. Thus, Rayleigh makes it into the top 10 on our list of the strongest haki users.

Sengoku, widely known as “Sengoku the Buddha,” was the former fleet admiral of the marines before Sakazuki and was highly regarded by Roger. He is a powerful marine and an important figure like Garp in the One Piece universe. He has the ability to use all three types of haki and is the only person in the Marine who can do that.

Popularly known as Blackbeard, Marshall D. Teach is the captain of the notorious Blackbeard pirates and is one of the four emperors of the Sea alongside Shanks, Luffy, and Buggy. He is the only person to possess two devil fruit powers in the entire One Piece world. He is already scary enough without accounting for his haki powers, isn’t he?

13. Fujitora

Issho, popularly known as Fujitora, is one of the admirals of the marines. Along with Ryokugyu, he is mentioned as a powerful monster in the Marines by Doflamingo. One should note that he earned this title despite being completely blind. That tells a lot about the Observation haki skills he possesses. Like a few other admirals, Fujitora can also use observation and armament haki. He can combine his magnificent haki skills with his swordsmanship and devil fruit powers, making makes him a big deal in the One Piece world.

Charlotte Katakuri is one of the sons of Big Mom and is also one of three sweet commanders of the Big Mom pirates. He is known to be the strongest pirate in Big Mom’s crew and went undefeated until he met Luffy. Just like his mother, he possesses all three types of haki.

Roronoa Zoro was previously known as the “Pirate Hunter Zoro” as he was a bounty hunter before meeting Luffy and joining the Straw Hat pirates. He is the right hand of the future pirate king Luffy and a loyal member of his pirate crew. Like his captain, Zoro is also proficient in all three types of haki, as per recent revelations. Using his three-sword style and sword collection, Zoro aims to beat Dracule Mihawk and become the strongest swordsman in the world.

As for his haki abilities, Mihawk was the one who taught Zoro about haki. He then used observation haki to detect a wild beast on Fishman island and confirmed its existence. He was also seen using armament haki by imbuing his swords with haki against Monet in Punk Hazard and started using it frequently in the future.

Eustass Captain Kid is the captain of the Kid pirates and belongs to the Worst Generation of pirates alongside Luffy, Law, and nine others. He is a brave and fearsome pirate who even went on to challenge Shanks, one of the emperors of the sea. Kid’s powers started to increase gradually as he trained and developed his abilities over time. He is also among the few individuals who can use all three forms of haki.

Donquixote Doflamingo was a former celestial dragon and went on to become the infamous broker of the underworld with the codename “Joker”. He was also previously regarded as one of the seven warlords of the sea. Right now, he is the captain of the Donquixote pirates in One Piece. Doffy is one of the most loved antagonists in the anime series, and that’s all because of his pure evilness, ideals, and dialogues. He is also one of the strongest haki users who can use all three types of Haki.

Doflamingo awakened his conqueror’s haki when he was 10 years old and was chased by the people who wanted to hurt his family. Later in Punk Hazard, he was again seen using conqueror’s haki to knock down the marines. He can also use observation haki, and his armament haki skills are a lot better too. Doflamingo hardened his body during his battle with Luffy, reduced all incoming damage, and even sent Luffy flying afterward. He is currently a prisoner, but let’s hope he gets out to treat us with his excellent powers in the future. He remains in the 18th position on our list of strongest haki users for now.

Yamato is the daughter of Kaido, and her addition to this list might come as a surprise to some. Kaido aimed to make Yamato his heir, but she expressed her admiration for Oden by announcing herself as Oden after his death. Hence, she started identifying herself as Kaido’s son and started impersonating Kozuki Oden. Like her dad, she also has all three types of haki at her disposal.

Ace was popularly known as “Fire Fist Ace” and was the son of the greatest pirate Roger. He was also the sworn brother of Luffy and Sabo. Ace was the captain of the Spade Pirates, but he joined the Whitebeard Pirates and became a second division commander later on. Like his father, Ace possessed all three types of Haki.

Ace was seen using conqueror’s haki unknowingly against the Bluejam Pirates when he was just 10. It is mentioned in the databook that he possessed observation and armament haki too, but we never get to see them due to his untimely demise. We hope to catch a glimpse of Ace and his true abilities in flashbacks as we saw in Wano. Ace could have become a serious contender for the list of strongest haki users if only he escaped his death in the Marineford war. But he definitely lives in the heart of One Piece fans as one of the greatest pirates.
