With the fourth quarter of the year seeing fewer game releases, the industry is relying on new indie games to fill their void. With plenty of big-name titles still on the way, Microsoft showcased some upcoming indie games this morning. The showcase mainly touted Microsoft’s library of new upcoming Xbox games for the rest of the year. Among them was Roll7’s new title, Olli Olli World, being properly showcased ahead of its release. The title had just been showcased at E3 2021, and officially revealed this past April. Showcasing the Olli Olli World customization component, players will truly be able to be any skater they desire.

How did Roll7 incorporate customization into Olli Olli World?
In Roll7’s new title, customization is one of the core mechanics with plenty of options to choose from. Skater creation is a perfect way to introduce new life into the series. The gameplay of Olli Olli World has also transformed into much larger skate spots. Seeing the larger stages and branching paths in action really showcases the scale of Olli Olli World. Allowing such freedom for skater form and style is a perfect direction for the series. The hand-drawn art style has returned in full form, Roll7 certainly built upon the strong Jet Set Radio inspiration. In Olli Olli World, those graphics have certainly seen the upgrade with fuller environments and character models. With up to 120 FPS and 4K support, the indie title will support a variety of platforms, with simultaneous releases on other platforms like PlayStation and PC. While there still is no set release date for the year, showcasing the title here at Xbox’s indie showcase is comforting. Planned for winter, it won’t be long until Olli Olli World skates into player’s hands.
