The NPD group has release the sales charts for the month of July in North America, with Splatoon 2 making a big debut and boosting Nintendo Switch to take over the hardware list. Nintendo’s shooter and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy were mainly responsible for a 19% increase in software sales year-over-year. Activision’s nostalgic platforming game rises to number 2 this month after debuting at number 4

Previous chart-topper Tekken 7 drops to number 20, in contrast with another major fighting game, Injustice 2, which still remains as part of the top 10. It’s also worth noting a stunning 50% in sales for RPG titles in 2017 compared to the first half of 2016, mainly due to the release of games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nier: Automata, Persona 5, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue.

As for hardware sales, Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console thanks to the release of Splatoon 2, although PS4 remained a remarkably strong seller.
