HMD Global, the Finnish company, behind Nokia smartphones has just launched its brand new budget smartphone in India. Yes, I am talking about the brand new Nokia 4.2, which features some decent specs and has been priced at Rs. 10,990. Take a look at the features of the device:
The Nokia 4.2 comes with a 5.71-inch HD+ (720×1520 pixels) IPS LCD display and like most Nokia phones, the 4.2 comes with a premium design. The smartphone comes with a sculpted-glass design and a teardrop notch on the front. It has all the usual buttons, plus an additional dedicated Google Assistant button, and like recent Nokia phones, the power button acts as the notification LED. When it comes to the ports, the phone has the headphone jack, a microSD slot and a microUSB port, which is a bit disappointing in 2019.
The Nokia 4.2 will be available exclusively on Nokia.com for a week starting May 7 and it will be available across select retail stores like Croma, Reliance, Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C and MyG starting May 14. The phone will be available at all major retail stores starting May 21. The device will come in two colors: Black and Pink Sand.
Our Take
The Nokia 4.2 at Rs. 10,990 is a decent phone on paper, with its key features being the premium Nokia design and Android One experience. However, at its price, the phone competes with the likes of the Redmi Note 7 and ZenFone Max Pro M2, both of which come with more powerful Snapdragon 660 processors, more RAM variants, bigger batteries, and 1080p displays, which means the Nokia 4.2 does seem a bit underpowered and overpriced.
