Nintendo Switch regains the top position in the Japanese sales charts this week, according to Media Create. This represents the first time in several weeks that PS4 hasn’t taken the lead this year, thanks to the boost in sales from the release of the mega-successful Monster Hunter: World. Additionally, this is the first time that the Switch hasn’t suffered any significant issues regarding the stock available in stores, which probably means that the console will continue to move around these sales numbers as an average in the future.
Despite not taking the number 1 in hardware, all relevant releases on the software list belong to PlayStation consoles. Those include PS4 exclusive Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match, the controversial Metal Gear Survive, which repeats its poor result from the United Kingdom, Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, and two PS Vita releases: Harukanaru Toki no Naka de Ultimate, and Tokimeki Restaurant: Project Tristars.
But of course, the actual top position goes to holdover Monster Hunter: World, which has remained at top of the list since it was released a month ago. Other prime Nintendo releases like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also show impressive staying power on the charts.
