Nintendo Switch Sports, the successor to one of the best-selling games of all time in Wii Sports, is receiving a July update. Nintendo Switch Sports’ July update is set to go live on the 26th, adding additional functionality to various sports within the game. Switch Sports has been a massive success for Nintendo, topping the UK Sales Charts over games like Horizon Forbidden West and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and selling 190,000 units in Japan during its first week of release, dominating the sales charts. This is no surprise, as the original Wii Sports was a smashing success. Its successor has more sports, precise controls, and features, making it the perfect family or party game compared to its predecessor, which felt more like a tech demo.

So, is it coming to the free update to Nintendo Switch Sports? Quite a few things, actually. Updates will be for soccer, volleyball, and online play. For soccer, the leg strap accessory will now be able to be used in conjunction with the Joy-Cons in one-on-one and four-on-four matches. The Rocket Serve and Slide Attack will be added to Volleyball, giving players more of a variety of shots. For those who play online, ∞ Rank and S Rank have been added, allowing gamers to show off their competitive prowess. And finally, Nintendo has added Room IDs to make playing with friends online much easier, making the process more efficient.

The next update for Switch Sports will be in the fall, with another free update. This time around, the update will be adding a brand new sport: golf. Golf is one of the games from the original Wii Sports, so it will be interesting to see how it plays on the Switch compared to the Nintendo Wii. There are sure to be more improvements and additions to the game as well. With such phenomenal support and consistent, free updates, Nintendo Switch Sports will continue to be a smashing success.
