The Fitness Boxing game for Nintendo Switch has inspired its own television anime adaptation. Now called You and Fitness Boxing (Kimi to Fit Boxing), the weekly television anime will premiere on Friday, October 1. It will debut on the Tokyo MX station and other undisclosed services.
The comedy anime will be 12 episodes (five minutes each). It will follow the daily lives of the game’s popular instructors when they’re not helping players work out. The original Japanese voice actors for the game are reprising their roles as the animated instructor, with some new add-ins as well.
Apparently, the anime will have a storyline introduced after the first initial episodes. All of this is said to be revealed on the website closer to the anime’s release.
Junpei Morita (Lost Song, Nocturne Boogie) is writing and directing the anime. Imagineer and Story Effect are developing the anime (as they also developed the game). Yusuke Shirato (Kochooki, Lost Song) is scoring the anime. Finally, Studio Solid Cube will be in charge of the motion capture.
The Love for Fitness Boxing
The original boxing exercise game has players using the Switch’s Joy-con controllers to punch and dodge in sequence. The rhythm game also revolves one on one around the chosen instructor. Imagineer published the game with the intention of it being the Switch’s first exercise game. Since then, Fitness Boxing has sold over 1 million copies worldwide.
The sequel, titled Fitness and Boxing 2: Rhythm and Exercise, was released last December on Nintendo Switch. In its first month, the game has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide and 800,000 copies since July. Since its release, Imagineer had also released a companion app for the game that allows progress monitoring, calorie data, and more. There are still plans for the app to be updated to keep up and offer more with the game, along with a Western release.
