Nintendo will be bringing back their original NES console later this year in the form of the NES Classic Mini, which is small enough to fit in one hand and comes pre-installed with 30 games. However, one of the questions regarding the system was how the games would actually look on modern TVs, and we’ve now gotten more information regarding that question.
Communications manager at Nintendo of Canada, Julie Gagnon, recently did an interview where she discussed the upcoming console and its display options. The console will have a standard HD-resolution output, though there will also be a display option to make the visuals appear as they would on a CRTV. There will also be a 4:3 aspect ratio mode, as well as a pixel-perfect mode that displays every pixel as a perfect square.
Accompanying the news about the display options is information on game saves. The console will allow you to save with permanent save points within each of the 30 games, though each game will also allow you to save at any point with temporary saves. Pretty standard stuff, but considering the unforgiving save systems that these games originally had it will make the experience far less aggravating.
The Nintendo Classic Mini will launch on November 11th and cost $59.99. The following are all 30 of the games that will be included with the system:
