It’s been long in the making, but Zack Snyder’s Justice League will soon grace our screens.
A grand reminder of this fact comes in the form of a brand new trailer. This 2-and-a-half minute montage of super-charged superhero action shows off some of the drama and dazzling battles Snyder’s film is set to offer. Check out the impressive trailer below:
As can be seen, the trailer showcases Superman’s black suit. While the hero famously wore a version of this suit in the 90’s comics after his resurrection following his death at the hands of Doomsday, the suit was never seen in Whedon’s 2017 version. Snyder’s film obviously rectifies this omission.
The other part that everybody is talking about is Jared Leto’s Joker at the end of the trailer. This is the first time the Thirty Seconds to Mars singer has portrayed the character since 2016’s Suicide Squad. In addition, it’s the first time his character has a dialogue-laden scene with Ben Affleck’s Batman. Leto’s addition to the cast was initially unexpected, with news of his casting announced in October 2020, five months after Snyder officially announced his cut’s release. It raised – and continues to raise – questions regarding how much new content will be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Other characters expected to return from the DCEU include Mera and Deathstroke. Amber Heard played Mera in the theatrical Justice League and Aquaman. However, Joe Manganiello played Deathstroke in an uncredited cameo in Joss Whedon’s JL, he didn’t get much time to shine. Although initially thought to appear in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie, hopes died once that project got canned. Therefore, he might get a bigger role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
You can find out this and more when the four-hour feature hits HBO Max on March 18, 2021.
