New Sonic Prime episodes for 2023: What We Know

SEGA confirmed that new episodes of Sonic Prime are coming, and fans can likely expect an announcement later in the year.

Sonic Prime‘s first episode premiered on Roblox on December 10, 2022, about 5 days before its official Netflix premiere. The series so far has only 8 episodes available to stream on the platform, but fans have expected that more may be on the horizon to continue from the cliffhanger of episode 8, “There’s No Arrgh in Team”.

The new Tweet from SEGA appears to show a screenshot from an upcoming episode of Sonic Prime. At this time, it is unknown what episode the screenshot is from. However, it is possible that it comes from episode 9, as it includes Sonic and Shadow, the latter of which is likely to play a more key role in the story following the events of episode 8.

Sonic Prime is slated to have at least 24 episodes total in the season, only 8 of which have actually aired, meaning barely over 30% of the story has been shown. It has barely been over a month since the first 8 episodes were released on Netflix, so it will most likely still be some time before an official release date announcement is made.

The official synopsis for Sonic Prime reads:

Sonic the Hedgehog thinks he’s seen it all before, but when his latest clash with Dr. Eggman shatters the Paradox Prism, he’s sent spinning through time and space and into the adventure of a lifetime. As he races through the strange new worlds of the Shatterverse, Sonic seeks out the familiar faces of Tails, Rouge, Amy, and Knuckles to help guide him back home to Green Hill. There’s just one problem — these Shatter Versions of his old pals, who all have new looks, attitudes, and abilities to go with their new realities — have never heard of Sonic.
