Over the last few weeks, we’ve talked about tests being conducted soon on a new Resident Evil game, and now we’ve some official details about the title finally. The game is currently codenamed Project Resistance, as shared today by Capcom.
A website has been brought online with the moniker Project Resistance, with the R and E in the title displayed in red as to remark that, yes, this is a new Resident Evil game indeed. A teaser trailer will be revealed on September 9 at 3:00 PM UTC (8 am PT, 4 pm UK, 1 am AEST).
Moreover, the newest Resident Evil game will be shown at Tokyo Game Show, where members of the development team will provide the attendance with first official details and a first look on the next product in the franchise. Residents in Japan can register on that website for a session and will even be able to play the game, in these times of the day:
- September 12 from 12:30 to 13:10 JST
- September 13 from 12:00 to 12:40 JST
- September 14 from 11:50 to 12:30 JST
- September 15 from 15:30 to 16:30 JST
At the time being, we don’t have many details on top that the website carries PS4, Xbox One and Steam logos, which could be a hint about the platforms you should expect the game to come on. It’s not an exclusive, and it’s aiming current-gen, so it should release in less than one year from now.
In our opinion, considering the way Capcom has been slowly revealing it with private tests first and then a showcase at TGS, it’s not a new game in the mainline Resident Evil franchise nor a remake of Resident Evil 3, but possibly a spin-off, whether it’s co-op or PvP. We’ll see what they come up within a couple of weeks.
