Netflix has been treating us to a number of animated shows over recent years. Shows such as the wonderful Bojack Horseman and Castlevania have all been released on the streaming site as well as the mediocre (in my opinion) Disenchantment from Matt Groening, among others.
It’s a trend that looks likely to continue. Netflix has announced a new animated series from co-creators David Fincher (Gone Girl, The Social Network) and Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator 6). “Love, Death, and Robots” will be an anthology series of 18 episodes aimed at a more mature audience and will feature a different director per episode as well as different styles of animation.
Each episode will be a short story of between 5-15 minutes long, with each likely to feel distinctly different from the last. The animation will vary and include anything from 2D to CGI. Genre-wise, we will be getting a mixture of Sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and comedy. Themes that have been shared so far include alien spiders, cyborg bounty hunters, and sentient dairy products. Hopefully something for everyone (of the appropriate age of course).
