American Gods aired its season 3 finale just over a week ago, but now the fantasy show is canceled. Starring Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle, the series might not be returning for a fourth season on Starz. However, executive producer Neil Gaiman immediately took to Twitter to confirm all is not over.
Deadline confirmed the cancellation of American Gods in a recent report, but Neil Gaiman has assured there’s some hope to be had. Gaiman wrote the book of the same name on which the show is based. He also works as an executive producer. Therefore, he has a lot of say in the future of the franchise. Specifically, regarding the future of the show, Gaiman reveals that Fremantle — the production company behind the drama — is “committed” to finishing the story. “It’s definitely not dead,” Gaiman tweeted of American Gods. “Fremantle (who make AG) are committed to finishing the story that began in episode 1, and right now, we’re all just waiting to see which way forward is best and who it’ll be with.”
