2K Sports has revealed a new edition of NBA 2K23 with a non-basketball player on the cover. Rapper J. Cole will appear in the game and grace the cover of the NBA 2K23 “Dreamer Edition.” J. Cole will not only be featured on the game’s cover but also as a character in the MyCareer mode.
What is the NBA 2K23 Dreamer Edition?
It was announced that the Grammy-award-winning J. Cole would be the face of NBA 2K23 Dreamer Edition. The upcoming NBA game will include the rapper in the MyCareer mode. In addition to Cole, MyCareer mode will feature Dreamville artists Bas and Elite, who will “help players befriend J. Cole and capture the hearts and minds of The City.”
“NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture,” said Cole in the blog. “It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game but to be part of the MyCareer storyline, soundtrack, and bring the Dreamer brand into NBA2K.”
Devin Booker, Diana Taurasi, and Sue Bird appear on the WNBA Edition cover of NBA 2K23. Michael Jordan is featured on the cover of another edition of the game.
The soundtrack for the game will feature music by Lil Baby, Drake, Jack Harlow, Megan Thee Stallion, and more artists, in addition to J. Cole.
J. Cole joined the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s Scarborough Shooting Stars earlier this year. He played four games before leaving to concentrate on his touring plans. During the Basketball Africa League in 2021, Cole participated in three exhibition games for the Rwanda Patriots BBC. So, he’s not far from the basketball industry.
NBA 2K23 will release on September 9 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC. Dreamer Edition only will sell on GameStop for the United States and Canada.
