American former professional basketball player Nate Robinson has announced that he has been battling kidney failure for the past four years. Not to worry, he’s currently undergoing treatment.

The star discloses that he opened up to be the voice of people suffering from the same problem. He’s trying to create awareness for some of them who can’t speak up to come together.

The 38-year-old played basketball with several teams in the NBA before becoming the first three-time slam dunk champion in 2010.

On February 18, 2010, the 5’9” was traded to the Boston Celtics along with Marcus Landry. He had limited playing time but made key contributions during the Celtics’ playoff run that season.

The star played for other clubs afterward before entering another career path. Nate Robinson’s career switch and kidney failure problem were almost at the same time.

Fast forward to April 3, 2017, he signed with Guaros de Lara of the Venezuelan Liga Professional de Baloncesto (LPB).

On July 31, 2018, Robinson signed with Homenetmen Beirut of the Lebanese Basketball League. However, He was waived by the club in September 2018 due to an injury he suffered while playing in the BIG3 during the summer.

Nate Robinson’s kidney failure must have started at the time. Then in July 2020, he was announced to venture into boxing. He was to face YouTuber Jake Paul as part of the undercard for the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. exhibition match. Unfortunately, Robinson lost to Paul by second-round knockout.
